NOTE* Our SP Silver Fireballs start off with a Chrome finish, but with direct heat contact change colors. Variations range from a Golden hue, a Liquid Mercury stain and a Bronzed finish. However, if the SP Silver Fireballs are placed outside of direct fire/heat contact the Chrome finish may be preserved.

COLORATION: Fire Balls, Fire Shapes, and Fire Stones are not a paint-based coating. They are a water based ceramic stain formulation that is made for fire use. This ceramic stain application will provide a fairly consistent covering, unfortunately not all castings absorb at the same rate. Some soak up all the coloration resulting in a "thin" look. When this occurs, we cannot "double dip", as the 2nd coating will reside on the surface; and will peel under heat. In sum, there will be variations in the same color from time to time and piece to piece. The staining penetrates the base material to provide certain colorfastness under heat; unattainable by regular paint. Yet, over time and continual usage - the surface layer will burn away. CRACKING: Hollow Terracotta Fire Balls are not to exceed temperatures of 600 degrees. If placed directly on the fire, under excessive heat, over a long period of time, the fireballs will crack. We would advise the following guidelines: If directly in the flames, run a low to medium flame, and remove when planning to run on high flame.
